WHY DONATE?

As the producer of the film I Sign and I Live, please allow me to announce that we are actively raising funds from individuals, groups and organizations which will go toward camera equipment, lighting equipment, props, food, transportation, rentals, and supplies. There have been very few films created by Deaf filmmakers– a visual stories– cinema created and seen through actual Deaf eyes. Deaf filmmakers have to start from the bottom and work their way up to build their reputations in order to attract sponsors and investors. And they also need to have a product in their hands to show them that he or she is indeed capable of producing a film or movie of the highest quality. And it’s the all-important individual contributor who enables that to happen. So you, dear reader, when you contribute, are contributing to the “pump” that is the film’s “heart” that enables the essential life-carrying nourishment to be distributed throughout the “body” of the process of film production.

We are enormously grateful to the contributors whose generosity is enabling us to make progress on our film without being distracted from out creative work. The fact that you, the contributors, are out there, cheering us on, is a large part of why those of us working on I Sign and I Live are so determined and why we continue to be fired up and enthusiastic about completing the film, and making it a visually effective story of the highest professional-looking quality.

The I Sign and I Live production crew firmly believes in the concept of integrity, and we encourage current and potential contributors to feel free to ask questions when making donations. Prompt, truthful and forthright answers will be given in response. Contributors will receive appropriate acknowledgment and recognition in the ending credits of the film, as well as recognition on the film’s official blogsite. Of course, the wishes of those contributors who prefer to keep their names anonymous will be respected.

Contributors will be honored by the presentation of the butterfly graphic on our site. The butterfly graphic is intended to be a metaphor for enlightenment, liberality, and aspiration. The butterfly is also dedicated to those contributors who prefer to remain anonymous.

Thank you in advance for trusting that I, as a Deaf filmmaker, along with my crew, can create this film, and thanks for being so generious with your contributions to help produce film. I hope to see each of your names on that special e-platform on our site in recognition of your being a vital part of the film, I Sign and I Live.
